The Meindl Island Lady MFS Active hiking shoe is a high leather shoe for women. The outer material is made of a high-quality and supple leather. The leather inner lining provides a comfortable shoe that easily adapts to the foot, but also continues to ventilate well and absorbs moisture quickly. Leather is a processed natural product obtained by tanning an animal skin. Despite the enormous development and progress in the production of new synthetic fabrics/materials, good leather still remains the most expensive but also the most durable material for a (handmade) technical hiking or mountaineering shoe. Treated well, you’ll have this shoe “forever.” Leather has a high wearing comfort, but once wet, it dries more slowly than synthetic materials such as Gore-Tex. If treated properly, you will not quickly get wet feet in a leather shoe with a leather inner lining.

These properties make the Island Lady MFS Active a real all-rounder with which you can enjoy excellent use in our forests, extensive heathland and dunes. This shoe is also perfect for a light Alpine hike.

The insole in the shoe is removable. The following insole is included with the shoe: Air-Active, this insole consists of a Drysole bottom layer and a soft top layer. This provides cushioning and the right climate in the shoe.

MFSystem

Meindl’s MFSystem means Memory Foam System: this means that the insole of the shoe adapts 100% to your foot and therefore excellent comfort. This is due to the specially designed foam combination that accurately adapts to the shape of the foot due to body temperature.

Good maintenance for these shoes

It is advisable to impregnate your hiking boots with a water-repellent spray before using them for the first time, which is suitable for leather shoes with a leather lining. When purchasing a pair of hiking boots at our store, we do this the first time.

You can feed the nubuck leather of this Island Lady MFS Active with a conditioner or wax. Over time, when using a waxed agent, the leather will look like smooth leather. If desired, brushing with a nubuck brush restores the nubuck structure of the leather. Regular treatment of the leather is recommended.

Cleaning the hiking boots

First clean your shoes with a soft brush or lukewarm water and then let them air dry. A heater or hair dryer is strongly discouraged! Also rinse the inside of your shoes once in a while. This way you remove the salt crystals from perspiration and the membrane will retain its breathable properties. Air drying is also recommended after this. If necessary, fill with kitchen paper or newspaper to aid the drying process. Always follow the instructions of your chosen maintenance product carefully.
