Odd Roar Lofterød was born in Norway 1915. He grew up in wartime and unemployment. He eventually got a job in a factory that made machines for the clothing industry. With the technical expertise in his pocket, he decided to start his own company in 1946: Odlo Fabrikker A/S. Lofterød was known for his creativity, unconventional thinking and his favorite saying “Be one step ahead.” His son, Odd Roar Junior, was on the Norwegian speed skating team and he designed a special suit made of Helanca material for him. His team and other top athletes were curious and wanted to try this out too.
