Fjällräven is a Swedish company that was founded in 1960 by Åke Nordin, a boy scout. The backpacks at that time were very uncomfortable and he read in a magazine that the weight must be high and close to the back in order to carry heavy loads. That is why, at the age of fourteen, he built a wooden backpack frame for which he sewed a baby carrier. During his hike in the mountains, people were very curious about his backpack and Åke received several orders. This was the start of the Fjällräven company, which he founded ten years later in his hometown of Örnsköldsvik.

It has been more than 50 years since Åke made that mountain hike with his homemade backpack. Since then, the Fjällräven brand has been used by several generations all over the world. Many products have become classics over time, such as the Kånken backpack from 1978 or the Vidda trousers from 1999.
