Did you know that a shoe size can differ per shoe brand? So you can’t always rely on one size and that’s why: measuring is knowing!
At our store, our staff will measure your feet to determine which shoes will fit you. However, what if you want to order your shoes online? How do you measure your shoe size correctly? We will guide you through it step by step.
We actually mention it earlier above. Per shoe brand, shoe sizes can vary. One size 6 isn’t the other. Do those few millimeters really matter, we hear you think. Yes they do! Because well-fitting shoes prevent discomfort and pain and ensure correct posture. If a shoe is too big, you will easily slip and blisters can occur. A shoe that is too small causes pressure spots. This can be addressed with various strapping techniques, but the key is a well-fitting shoe. There is nothing more annoying when a shoe does not fit comfortably on the foot. Everyone can relate to that.
Nobody’s feet are both the same size. There is always a difference in length and width. Sometimes it’s just a few millimeters, but it can also be one or even several centimeters. Therefore, it’s important to always measure both feet. Then, to determine the corresponding shoe size, always use the longest measurement. You can look it up in the size chart shown with the shoe on our website.
You can easily measure your feet yourself using the steps below. The measurement is done barefoot or with thin socks on.
Step 1: Step on a blank piece of paper.
Take a blank sheet of paper and place it on the ground. Step in the middle of the paper.
Step 2: Make a contour of your foot.
Now, using a pencil or pen, make a contour of your foot. Make it as close as possible along your foot. Tip: start at the heel to make a nice contour.
Step 3: Draw a straight line along your heel and your longest toe.
After making the contour, step off the sheet of paper. Using a ruler, now draw a straight line along your heel and along your longest toe. These are the outer points of your foot.
Step 4: Measure the distance between the two lines
Now measure the distance between the two lines and write down this length.
Step 5: Repeat steps 1 to 4 with your next foot
No two feet are the same size. Therefore, it’s very important to always measure both feet. Repeat steps 1 to 4 to measure your other foot.
Step 6: Check the brand’s size chart to find the longest foot length measured
Now go to the page of your chosen shoe and click above the sizes: How do I determine my size? Find in the size chart the longest measured foot length and look which shoe size corresponds to it. This is the size you should order.
As mentioned, sometimes sizes vary by shoe brand. Therefore, each brand on our website has its own size chart. So always redetermine what shoe size you need for each brand.
