 and grandfather he learned the shoemaking trade. In Munich he learns the noble art of double stitching, a method that few shoemakers master but which Hanwag carefully maintains. In 1921 he opens his first workshop in Vierkirchen, where Hanwag is still located today. Since the 1936 Olympics, Hanwag has focused on making ski boots, but when the “Outdoor” trend emerged in the 1980s, Hanwag concentrated completely on this market. Hanwag now produces these fantastic mountain and hiking boots for men and women!
