The Socks Knee-High 600 are great socks for during cold winter hikes. This is because the sock is composed mostly of merino wool, which not only keeps your feet well warm, but this also keeps them dry when you perspire. The Socks Knee-High 600 is a knee-length sock that keeps your entire lower leg wonderfully warm. The sock is elastic at the ankle and at the top of the sock, offering optimal freedom of movement during your winter outdoor activities.

Merino wool has the advantage that unpleasant odors do not linger. So it is not necessary to wash the clothes, even for a first use. Woolpower even recommends simply airing the clothing. If you still want to wash the clothes, you can do so with special wool detergent. You can then wash the clothes even at 60℃. This is because the wool is first treated in the “superwash,” creating a pre-shrinkage.

    Size advice

Woolpower’s clothing is mostly unisex and falls generously for both women and men. Moreover, it may become slightly wider during wear. The insulating properties of Woolpower garments are at their best when they fit to the skin. Therefore, for at least ladies, it is advised to take one size smaller. For proper sizing, please refer to the size charts at the top of this page.

    Materials

    Merino wool

Merino wool comes from merino sheep and is widely known for its high quality. Merino sheep have much more hair than other sheep. About ten times as many hairs grow per square meter as an average sheep. As a result, the wool is thinner and longer, feels very soft and does not itch. Merino sheep live in areas with wide temperature variations from -20 ºC to over 35 ºC. Their fur acts as a heat regulator. As a result, merino wool keeps you warm in the cold but breathes well. In addition, merino wool has excellent moisture management and self-cleaning properties, so you won’t easily suffer from perspiration marks and odors on your clothing.

    Polyamide

Polyamide, also called nylon is a synthetic material made from petroleum. Polyamide is a strong fabric that does not tear and wrinkle easily. It is light, elastic, easy to fold and dries quickly. A disadvantage of polyamide is that it does not absorb moisture well.

    Elastane

Elastane is a synthetic fiber that is exceptionally elastic. Its great stretchability, but at the same time its sturdiness sets it apart from other synthetic fabrics. For example, it is stronger and more durable than rubber, but also much lighter. Elastane is very lightweight, making it great for when you are doing activities. In fact, elastane also offers plenty of room to move because it is so elastic without losing its fit.
