Deuter is one of the best known (and oldest!) backpack brands in the world. And this years of knowledge is reflected in the quality of the backpacks. Hans Deuter founded the brand in 1898 and received his first major order from the Royal Bavarian Post Office for the delivery of mail bags. In 1910, Deuter became involved in making backpacks, holsters and other bags for the military. But the backpacks only really became popular in 1934 after the successful German Himalaya Expedition.
