Materials
Recycled polyester
Polyester is a synthetic material made from petroleum. It is a durable, smooth fabric that is soft to the touch. In addition, it is lightweight, does not require ironing and dries quickly. Polyester, unfortunately, is not biodegradable but is recyclable. With proper use and maintenance of the product, it does last longer making it sustainable in the long run. This makes recycled polyester a sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative.
Elastane
Elastane is a synthetic fiber that is exceptionally elastic. Its great stretchability, but at the same time its sturdiness sets it apart from other synthetic fabrics. For example, it is stronger and more durable than rubber, but also much lighter. Elastane is very lightweight, making it great for when you are doing activities. In fact, elastane also offers plenty of room to move because it is so elastic without losing its fit.
Technologies
PFC Free/Eco Finish
The The North face W Apex Insulated Etip Glove is manufactured without the use of environmentally hazardous fluorocarbons (PFCs). The use of PFCs in textile finishes makes clothing water, dirt and grease repellent. An alternative finish without the use of PFCs was used in these gloves. This makes the product water and dirt repellent. Only an oil-repellent effect cannot currently be achieved with a PFC-free finish.
