Description

The Patagonia W’s Triolet women’s jacket is ideal as a sturdy jacket for the mountains. The fabric of this jacket is sturdier, allowing you to carry a heavy rucksack. This jacket is not insulated and is therefore best worn as an outer layer. You can add insulation by wearing a down jacket or fleece gilet underneath. Furthermore, a hardshell jacket is lightweight and packs down compactly, so it fits easily into your luggage.

The jacket features a three-layer GORE-TEX membrane; this material is breathable, windproof and waterproof. The outer fabric also has a DWR finish.

The hood has been designed to be worn with a helmet, and a two-way zip ensures your view is not obstructed. There are zips under the arms, which can be opened if you get hot whilst being active. The pockets on the front of the jacket are strategically placed, allowing you to easily carry a rucksack without your pockets being blocked. This jacket features one inside pocket. The cuffs have a tapered fit with a Velcro fastening. You can adjust these to fit you perfectly, ensuring you lose as little heat as possible.

Material

The GORE-TEX membrane ensures that clothing is windproof, waterproof and breathable. This keeps you dry in the rain and helps prevent sweat patches.

Polyester is a synthetic material made from petroleum. It is a durable, smooth fabric that feels soft to the touch. It is also lightweight, does not require ironing and dries quickly. A disadvantage of polyester is that it does not absorb moisture well and is not very warm.

DWR stands for Durable Water Repellent. This is a protective coating on the outside of the jacket that ensures water droplets roll off the fabric.

Fitting

This Patagonia W’s Triolet women’s jacket has a regular fit. This fit offers plenty of freedom of movement. Another advantage of a regular fit is that this jacket is ideal for wearing as part of a layering system.

Water column

The water-repellent properties of clothing are often described in terms of millimetres of water column. The water column indicates the amount of water pressure a fabric can withstand per square centimetre before it starts to leak. This Patagonia W’s Triolet women’s jacket has a water column rating of 28,000 mm. This means that the fabric will leak when subjected to the pressure of 28 metres of water.

Maintenance

To ensure you can continue to enjoy this Patagonia W’s Triolet women’s jacket for a long time, it is important to look after it properly. It is important to wash the jacket regularly to maintain its waterproofing. As it is made from a technical fabric, you should not use standard washing powder, as this is too harsh. Using a technical detergent will help maintain the jacket’s waterproof properties.

A DWR coating wears off with use and can be renewed and improved using a Grangers spray. The Grangers Wash & Repel 2-in-1 detergent also restores the DWR layer.
