The Meindl Tessin Identity is ideal for long walks. From walks in the woods to light hikes in the mountains, this hiking shoe is a real all-rounder. The Tessin Identity falls under the category A/B hiking boots. These shoes are slightly more flexible than category B hiking boots and somewhat firmer than category A hiking boots. The Meindl Tessin Identity is an ideal option, especially for people who walk longer, but do not want to wear heavy shoes.
As the name suggests, the Tessin Identity is part of Meindl’s Identity series. This means that the hiking shoe is sustainably produced. The outer material and the lining are made of organic leather. The leather of the lining is chrome free. Thanks to the GORE-TEX membrane incorporated in the shoe, the Tessin Identity is waterproof. The VIBRAM sole provides good grip while walking.

Meindl Identity
The Ticino Identity is part of Meindl’s Identity series. This means that the shoe has been produced sustainably. For the Identity series, Meindl works with organic farms and with the German tannery Heinen, which invests part of their profits in reforestation. Each shoe of the Identity series is numbered with a unique code. If you enter the code on the Meindl website , you can see exactly where the leather of your shoe comes from.
materials
bioleather
The outer material of the Meindl Tessin Identity consists of high-quality organic leather. The organic leather comes from cows from certified organic farms that have been outside all year round and are not fed concentrates. The leather of these cows is therefore thicker and more robust and therefore very nice material to use in walking shoes.
Chrome-free leather
The lining of the Tessin Identity is made of chrome-free leather. Leather is often tanned using chromium-containing minerals. People who are sensitive to chromium can suffer from allergic contact dermatitis when they come into contact with this leather. Chrome-free leather is tanned without the use of chromium-containing minerals. Hikers with an allergy to chromium will therefore not suffer from contact eczema when wearing the Meindl Tessin Identity.
GORE-TEX ®
The Meindl Tessin Identity contains a GORE-TEX ® membrane. The GORE-TEX ® membrane ensures that the hiking boots are waterproof, but still breathable. This keeps your feet dry while walking.
insole
The Tessin Identity has a removable insole from Meindl. This insole contributes to extra walking comfort and is also available separately. We also sell custom insoles that provide extra support.
Maintenance
To ensure that your hiking boots last as long as possible, it is important that you maintain your hiking boots properly. Would you like to know more about how to best maintain these shoes? Then read our page: ‘ How do I maintain my walking shoes?’ .
Outsole
Like many other hiking boots, the Tessin Identity has a VIBRAM ® outsole. Vibram soles are known for their high quality and durability and are therefore often used in hiking boots. The soles ensure a good transition of the foot. The midsole provides good cushioning. The profile of the sole has been developed in such a way that it provides good grip on different surfaces. In addition, the profile of the sole is self-cleaning. This means that the sole does not retain sludge and soil. Because the soles are wear-resistant, they last longer than other soles.
If the sole of your hiking boots is worn, they need to be replaced. Worn soles are a risk when walking. Because the profile of the sole disappears, the grip decreases and you slip faster. It’s just difficult to say goodbye to walking shoes that fit perfectly and with which beautiful trips have been made. Especially if you have always maintained your shoes well, the upper material of the shoe will last longer than the sole. The walking shoes may still look fine, but because the sole is worn out, they are no longer used for walks. With a heavy heart, hikers say goodbye to their favorite shoes. The big advantage of the Tessin Identity is that the shoes can be resoled. So if the soles of this hiking shoe wear out in the future, you don’t have to throw them away. We at Antilope Outdoor offer you a service to have your shoes resoled. If you bring or send your shoes in, we can help you breathe new life into the Tessin Identity.
