Organic cotton
Cotton is a natural material that comes from the cotton plant. The cotton fibers are spun into a yarn that is often used in clothing because of its durability, comfort and strength. In addition, cotton has good breathability and can easily absorb moisture. Cotton can discolour due to light and the stretchability of the fabric is limited. The production of cotton is harmful to the environment. Cotton fields are often injected with toxic chemicals such as insecticides and pesticides. These chemicals can end up in groundwater and contaminate drinking water. Organic cotton is grown without the use of chemicals. This helps to keep the soil fertile and protect biodiversity.
Recycled Polyamide
Polyamide, also called nylon, is a synthetic material that is made from petroleum. Polyamide is a strong fabric that does not tear and crease easily. It is light, elastic, easy to fold and dries quickly. A disadvantage of polyamide is that it does not absorb moisture well. In addition, like many other materials, polyamide is harmful to the environment. It is not biodegradable and contributes to the plastic soup in the ocean. However, polyamide can be recycled very well. The use of recycled polyamide reduces both waste and the dependence on petroleum as a source. Recycled polyamide is therefore a sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative.
